Under Tweed Shire Council regulations all dogs and puppies have to be vet checked to assess whether they are suitable for sale. Vet checks are scheduled for every Thursday. We only have a short time to find homes for those cats and kittens assessed suitable for sale. Please register your interest in a cat or kitten by contacting the pound on 02 6676 6060. All dogs and cats being sold to NSW residents have to be lifetime registered at the time of sale from the pound. Click for Pound location map.

Cats with Foster Carer
The following cats are not in the pound. Some have been rescued as their short time in the pound ran out and they were due to be destroyed. They are all still in need of a loving home.
All cats in foster care are available at the very special price of $90 for cats 6 months to 5 years, $60 for cats over 6 years and kittens $130. These prices are heavily subsidised by Friends of the Pound as we ensure that the animal is vet checked, desexed, vaccinated and microchipped before being released from our care. Additionally there may be a reimbursement to Friends of the Pound of the NSW Lifetime Registration Fee of $40. This amount is paid by us if we rescued the animal from the pound.
We are a not for profit organisation and these prices are a small percentage of what it actually costs us for the basic veterinary expenses involved with each animal.
If you are in a position to pay more for a foster cat we welcome any further donations.

Private Rehoming
"Maia" - Maia is a female desexed, microchipped DSH Tabby about 8 years old. She loves attention, but is also very independent (as most cats are). She is not necessarily a lap cat, but on a cold winter night will likely curl up on your lap (especially if you let her lick the ice cream bowl) and sleep on the end of your bed. She has been well looked after with Revolution for heartworm and fleas, yearly vaccination and spot on intestinal wormer. She would be happiest living with a person/people without young kids and without other pets who have time to give her lots of affection. She is both an indoor and outdoor cat. She generally stays indoors at night. She is accustomed to a cattery once a year. Please phone Chelsea on 07 5667 7266 or 0413 176 241. Email chelsmicknsophie@bigpond.com A donation towards Friends of the Pound would be appreciated. |

Private Rehoming "Teddy" - Chocolate Point Himalayan Persian - Desexed Male Teddy is just gorgeous. He is 3.5 years old, full of personality, gentle, loving and friendly. He likes to play and be active, but he likes his lap time and prefers to be doing whatever you are doing! The best way to describe Teddy is to say he is "people oriented." Teddy will attempt to "help" you do whatever it is that you are doing, whether it is reading the paper or making the bed. He will be in the middle of all of your activities, and he expresses himself with a wonderful melodious voice. All he asks of you is your complete devotion! He may adapt with another cat of a similar age or even a small dog (he is too much for my 10 year old feline who just wants to nap!). Unfortunately he is terrified of children. I work from home so he is deserves that constant company, trailing me from room to room. He will reward you with cuddles and lying next to you, placing his paw gently on you. The biggest issue with having a Himalayan cat is whether you are committed to the time requirements of regular grooming to prevent hairballs and matting. In the hotter months, he needs a "lion cut", one in the beginning and one in the middle of summer. If you can't plan on brushing every day, you should probably look for another breed. On the other hand, if you are willing to give Teddy this special attention, you will be rewarded with the addition of a very special member of your family. His trusting nature would require that he is indoors every night (he gets lost easily!), with the option of an enclosed outdoor area during the day. Please phone Jo on 02 6672 5249 or 0404 831 353. A donation towards Friends of the Pound would be appreciated. |
