VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering is another valuable way to help out Friends of the Pound as we are always in need of volunteers to aid with a variety of tasks. Specifically we need volunteers to help us at the Tweed Shire Pound, whatever time you can volunteer is fantastic and the general pound shifts are as follows: Monday to Friday 9am till 4pm and weekends 9am till 12noon and 12noon to 4pm.
The variety of jobs you can do whilst volunteering at the pound includes, answering incoming phone calls, comparing lost and found notices, general cleaning and feeding, exercising the dogs, checking the animals over for ticks, grooming as well as showing the orphans lots of love and attention.
The day just passes you by and as all of our volunteers will tell you, you get a great sense of satisfaction from helping out with a great and worthy cause.
To jump on the FOP volunteering bandwagon simply email our pound roster co-ordinator Lee Robertson on leola.robbo@yahoo.com or on telephone number 02 6676 4225 with your contact details, what you would be most interested in doing and the days you are available and we will get in contact with you as soon as possible. Alternatively you can email our Public Relations Officer Emma on foppr@yahoo.com.au.
FOSTERING
Foster carers are the lifeline of our organisation, without these wonderful people we could not rescue the amount of animals we do, yet we always need more people to come forward and offer to foster an orphan until a permanent home can be found.
Foster caring is a really rewarding thing to do and it doesn’t take much time or effort. All you need to provide is a loving home, secure fencing and a few hours of interaction with your foster animal each day.
We provide you with food; bedding and we pay for all medical costs associated with the foster animal. We also provide you with support at any time you need, about any questions you may have.
The most rewarding part of the whole experience has to be the satisfaction you feel when your foster animal finds a new, permanent loving home. Knowing that you have played a big role in getting them that home is a great feeling and one that will stay with you for a lifetime.
To find out more about becoming a foster carer please contact Susie on dogon@qld.chariot.net.au.

REHOMING
CENTRE CAMPAIGN
In the New Year we are re-launching our rehoming centre campaign; ideally we
need approximately one million dollars to purchase a pre-existing kennel/cattery.
There is no dog and cat rescue shelter between Coombabah on the Gold Coast and
Coffs Harbour. Whilst we have been doing all that we can to rescue homeless
dogs and cats out of the pound and on the Tweed for the past eight years it
is very difficult without a shelter. Ultimately this would mean that we could
rehome and save even more abandoned animals then we already do, decreasing the
current rate of animal euthanasia in NSW.
People donating specifically to this cause will have their names recorded by Friends of the Pound in a special database which will then be placed on a plaque at the front of our rehoming building when we have the funds to purchase it, to show our appreciation and to show that no matter how big or small, your donation still helps save lives.
To
donate to our rehoming centre fund simply send a cheque or money order addressed
to the Friends of the Pound re-homing centre fund to:
PO BOX 260
MURWILLUMBAH
NSW 2484.
Alternatively you can email our Public Relations Officer Emma on foppr@yahoo.com.au if you have any further questions regarding our rehoming centre fund.

FUNDRAISING
Fundraising is one of the key ways in which Friends of the Pound raises funds to rescue abandoned animals from the Tweed Shire Pound. We have various fundraising initiatives being undertaken throughout the year with volunteers always being needed to help us out with such projects.
Selling raffle tickets, raising funds through sausage sizzles and fundraising nights are just some of the ways which we raise our much needed funds. We also have market stalls at shopping centres and regularly attend pet orientated days and shows such as the Gold Coast Pet Expo. So if you could spare a day or even a couple of hours to promote our wonderful cause or raise much needed funds then contact Narelle on the above mentioned number.
Alternatively if you have suggestions on fundraising ideas or suggestions on events we can attend to promote our cause then email our Public Relations Officer Emma on foppr@yahoo.com.au or on 07 5536 5908.
POSTERS AND LEAFLET DISTRIBUTION
Distributing our posters and leaflets is another great way of helping us out and promoting our cause. Even if you have a spare few minutes over your lunch break it would be much appreciated.
We would sincerely appreciate you handing out our posters and flyers around the community, on staff noticeboards, shopping centre noticeboards, at vets and other places you see fit. To download our flyer, simply click the link below.
If you would like to mass distribute our flyers simply send an email to foppr@yahoo.com.au with your contact details and the amount of flyers you would like to distribute and the event you would like to distribute them at and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
