The following dogs are either in the Tweed Shire Pound, in temporary homes with Friends of the Pound foster carers, or are private re-homings. Click on ‘Dog Category’ to see where they currently reside.
If your dog is missing in the Tweed Shire area, please phone the Tweed Shire Pound immediately on 02 6670 2400. You may also upload their details and photograph to the Tweed Shire Council’s lost animals page here. Please view our links page for more information on lost pets. Remember, a microchipped dog with up-to-date address details will get home sooner!
Always adopt, never buy
All adoptions are subject to our adoption application process. You can meet and get to know your dog before you commit to purchase it. Arrange to bring your current dog to meet the new one or take a dog on trial. You will take home a new member of your family that will love you unconditionally.
You can get a dog from Friends of the Pound that has already been through the destructive and time-consuming puppy stage. This can often be better with young children, to get an older dog that doesn’t jump up, scratch or have sharp teeth. Many dogs have already had some training and socialisation.
Many mixed breed dogs have less problems with their health than purebreds, although we do get many purebred dogs in the pound and in foster care as well.
A rescue pet always seems to know that you have been their saviour, and can repay you tenfold with their loyalty.
